The Alter Ego 'stache

This is the portrait of internationally acclaimed and well respected photographer, David Honl. His life spent behind the lens of his camera, capturing and distilling the beauty and mystery of his subjects for the benefit of the world. His clean shaven face allowing him an unbiased look at the world. However, selflessly documenting the world as it is can take it's toll on one's soul. Thus the need for an alter-ego.

The dawning of the moustache allows mild mannered camera man Dave, to get in front of the camera and become his edgy and glamorous alter ego, Stachio DuRock, Late 70's pop phenomena / actor/ international playboy.
I'm curious to see how many others there are out there that rely on the 'stache to unleash their alter ego. If you have a 'stache alter ego you should definitely post it here so we can all marvel at it.

Mustache as disguise?

This is ridiculous. My friend Birdget found this bus in Wisconsin using a mustache to disguise its self as a person. Seems charming enough, but really, what are it's intentions?

Moustached!

I've recently become fascinated by the fact that men (most anyway) are able to cultivate these fabulous things on their faces. I am also a bit jealous. I'm making it my mission to dedicate this blog to exploring the history, function, and art of moustache.

Being the girly-girl that I am, I've not directly been able to experience all the wonders that adorn the upper lip. I have however have come close, it's amazing how even a stick on 'stache can create such character.

The fact that you can buy stick on moustaches for each day of the week says something about their recent rise in popularity. However despite the upswing in popularity, the novelty wax moustache of our youth has failed to make a strong comeback. I can't even find an image of one to show you, but I'm sure you can recall their playful chewy goodness.

One can make a moustache out of nearly anything as my good friend and artist Kari has discovered. Some folks, much to their surprise, find themselves moustached by careless eating habits. Foods such as milk and cotton candy are often culprits.

In the next few posts we'll look at some fellers who can grow real moustaches.
